Whether you are just beginning the college application process or you are almost finished, you are in the right place. With over 23 years in education, I have seen and done a lot. I know what works and what can trip you up in your pursuit of your dreams and goals. Nothing brings me more joy than watching a student receive their admissions notification that they have gotten in to the school of their dreams! HUGE ACCOMPLISHMENT! But, that is just one of the many steps in the college application process. You have it in you to achieve your goals and dreams, but sometimes you don’t even know where to begin and what’s worse- sometimes you don’t even know what you don’t know. With so much information out there, it can be paralyzing to even know where to begin.
That’s where I can help!

No matter where you are in the process, I can help you achieve more!
You are here because you have big dreams and goals! I know you want to be certain that the path you are about to embark upon is the right one. The only way to be certain of that is to ask yourself some important questions:
When I close my eyes and envision my future in 5, 10, or even 15 years and ALL my dreams have come true, what does that look like?
How do you want to show up in life for yourself? Not to please others, but in order to be true to what you want in life.
At the end of the day, what do you want people to remember about you?
Why do I care so much about your future? I care so much because I’ve been there and I’ve seen so many students underachieve or underperform because they either didn’t have a vision of a positive future for themselves or they were simply following the path created by someone else in their lives. Instead of looking inward and taking time to truly analyze the direction they wanted their life to take, they took shortcuts and either selected the “easy” way, gave up entirely, or followed the lead of a well intending loved one who thought they knew what was best for their life. The key component here is that in reality, it is your life. Therefore, you must take ownership to direct your steps with the proper amount of support, guidance, and mentorship. And, I want to see you achieve all that you desire for your life.
How did I get started?
I created the 5 Step Process to apply for college over the course of about ten years of working with high school students in my school and students from a neighboring school district. I found that by starting with the end goal in mind that the rest of the steps fell into place. I saw how excited students would become when they took ownership of researching their own path toward their goals. They would ask themselves questions like, “What do I want to major in?” or “What club or organization would I like to join when I get to college?”. Then, when they began researching the answers to these questions they would follow the breadcrumbs based on their selections and choices. It empowered them to discover their likes and dislikes, which then offered a CLEAR PATH toward their dreams and goals. It was a path that they designed and were invested in traveling even if it meant it was not the right one or they may need to alter it in the future. The ownership was in the right place- with them!
I heard a great analogy the other day that reminds me of this concept. If you were to decide to go on vacation, you wouldn’t just say to everyone, “Hey, I’m going on a fabulous vacation” and leave it at that, would you? No, of course not. People would ultimately ask you where you are going and how are you going to get there. They might also ask you what you will be doing once you arrive. If you just simply say, “I’m going on a fabulous vacation” then you are leaving out important details like:
How will you get there;
What will you do when you arrive;
Who will you take with you or meet along the way.
You must have a roadmap to your destination. It might be google or just a good ole’ fashioned paper map. You will have to analyze the route, set aside time for appropriate stops for snacks or restroom breaks, and you will have to allocate money in order to fund your adventure. Likewise, you will need to decide who you would like to take with you as well as what you want to do once you arrive. As you can see, there are many factors that must be addressed and thought out prior to, during, and even after your trip. Planning for college, attending college, and even life after college are all of the things that must be carefully planned prior to even applying. While this may seem overwhelming and scary, it can actually be one of the most liberating and empowering processes you complete in your life. The good news is that it can also be adjusted along the way to account for life changes, dream shifts, and authentic living.
I’m so excited for you! This process can be life changing and direct your path toward dreams that you didn’t think would come true. Don’t hesitate to reach out to me, ask questions, and dive deep into your thoughts. I do want to warn you though that once you begin on this journey and start researching your possibilities, it can be scary, overwhelming, but it will also result in a mind shift that you may have never experienced before. You will become more clear about your future and the direction you intend to take in order to successfully achieve your goals. It is not for the faint at heart, but rather for those students committed to their future and willing to put in the work in order to achieve more in life. So, let’s get started! I can’t wait to see what you achieve!
